Weekly Meal Planning Made Easy
This might sound familiar to you – you come home from a long day stressful day at work. All you want to do is relax, but wait – you forgot that you still have to make dinner. You have your go to’s or maybe you want to try something new, but you don’t know of you have all the ingredients for it. Meal Planning helps you avoid all of that.
Meal planning is very simple. You might have to invest in some time to collect recipes that you like, but it will save you time and money in the long run!
I start by break down the week by breakfast/lunch/dinner.
I usually reserve two days as left over days or what I call FFY days (aka fend for yourself). Let’s just face it, there are going to be some days where you want to eat out, you don’t want to cook, or you have left overs you need to use. I give myself some flexibility for those options.
Now picking recipes! I have a huge collection of recipes on Pinterest! Pinterest is great because if you have a specific allergy or dietary restrictions, there are tons of creative options for you there with killer ratings. Other places that I get my planted based recipes are Forks Over Knifes and Oh She Glows. Oh She Glows also offers plant based staples and substitutes if you need idea. All Recipes is another option. One thing I like about all recipes is they have videos that show you how to make the dishes.
Another perk to planning your meals for the week is that it helps you evaluate how long you want to spend cooking each day. You can pick meals that are simple and quick, or if you have more time you can make a more complex dish.
Once you know what you are going to have for the week, you can build your grocery shopping list. You can check what ingredients you already have, what you need to buy, but what ingredients you can omit. This helps you manage where your money is going on groceries.
Please let me know what kind of recipes that you like to have during the week or how you do your meal planning in the comments below!
